Latest update:

We've moved onto the the ethics and morals of the video games industry, we've had a group discussion on what we personally thought, and watched 2 videos on 'video game violence'. A dispatches report (Which was absolutely biased) and an individual's report which was completely fair, and looked at both sides of the story.

We've now been assigned to come up with an 3000 word document on ethics/morals, contractual and legal sides of the industry. We've got 2 weeks to complete this.

I've also got to hand in my 10 slide presentation on the time line of the production of a video game, and a picture showing the timeline processes.

Project 2 of Unit 12 -Project management.

Okay, so John's tasked us with another week long project. This time we have 3 tasks to do within the week, the project is rather simple, and with the new checklist (which should have been started in September) it makes everything much more easier to understand, and time manage every thing.
  1. Create an minimum of 5 slides in Powerpoint on 'what is project management and what does it entail?'
  2. Create an minimum of 10 slides in Powerpoint on a video game of my choice, and its development
  3. Create a diagrammatic flow chart that shows how the game was project managed from concept to being placed on the market.
Easily done, considering I know what to do for 1 & 2, the 3rd will require some attention, but when I get to it then I will question it.

I've decided to do my favourite game modification 'Project Reality' which is an modification of EA's Battlefield 2. The reason being is that the modification is entirely fan made, EA have only provided the tools, but the fans provided the imagination.

I've played this for over a year now, and in that year, I've seen huge changes. But the modification has been around for a few years. On the forums 'www.realitymod.com' there's a thread about the entire development, from how it started and what they hope to achieve in the near future. Considering the development team are all regular posters on the forum, access to information is easy.

Catch up.

After unsuccessfully completing last week's project, I'm gonna make sure I do as much as possible this time round. With this now being more about what I personally like, I think the deadline of the 18th March at 10:00am is reasonable, and easily achievable

I prefer this type of work to the practical one, although this is stupid considering I've chose to do this course with an interest in video games, I've just not enjoyed using the software I've been taught. After much thought, and constant questioning myself, I've decided to only do a single year of this course. But saying that, I aim to get the award I can achieve though.

Wish me luck.
